Overview
KFC Digital Kiosk is a conceptual design project that explores how self-service technology could enhance the ordering experience at KFC outlets. The goal was to design an intuitive and visually engaging kiosk interface that simplifies the ordering process, reduces wait times, and reflects the KFC brand identity in a digital format. Although this was not an official project, it served as a personal design exploration to showcase creative thinking and problem-solving in a real-world restaurant context.
Challenge
Designing a kiosk interface involves balancing speed, clarity, and accessibility. The main challenge was to create a design that allows users to browse, customize, and complete orders quickly without feeling overwhelmed. Since kiosk users may vary in age and digital familiarity, the interface needed to remain intuitive and visually guided. The absence of real user data or client feedback also made it essential to rely on UX best practices and design heuristics for validation
Approach
I began by researching self-service kiosk systems in other fast-food brands to understand common pain points and best practices. I then created user flow diagrams focused on minimizing interaction steps and improving visual hierarchy. The interface design adopted KFC’s iconic color palette and bold imagery to maintain brand consistency while ensuring readability and focus on product visuals. Prototypes were designed in Figma, emphasizing clear navigation, touch-friendly buttons, and a streamlined checkout process optimized for quick service environments
